🍀 Blurb 🍀

On stage, Adam lets his passion drive him. All his secret desires, everything nasty, dirty, and beautiful flows freely through him, for once in harmony. His soul thrives when his body moves, but only on stage. Adam’s passionate nature makes him a great dancer…and a failure at life. He’s a lonely, emotional mess. Going home with a man far out of his reach is the last thing Adam should do. Christoffer represents everything Adam isn’t: strong, independent, educated, and rich. His kind eyes, at odds with his brutish form, make Adam’s knees and restraint buckle.

Once Christoffer sees Adam dancing, he’s lost. The young man is mesmerizing, otherworldly, and unpredictable. Whatever might happen between them, it will be transient, and Christoffer will most likely get hurt. The temptation is too great, however, and the sex explosive. He might as well enjoy every moment he’s given, even if it’s just one day, maybe two. If Christoffer treads carefully, Adam might stay until Monday.

🌿 Excerpt 🌿

He didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Why was he still here? He should leave. Now.

The house was far away from any main roads, but he could walk for a bit and then get a taxi to the nearest train station back to the city. Maybe there was a bus stop somewhere close. His thoughts sharpened—the jerking off, swim, and caffeine had cleared his brain. Determined not to waste more time daydreaming about wealthy bears who never gave a damn, he finished his coffee. He’d need to sneak back to the bathroom to get his clothes. And his phone. He shouldn’t have lingered.

He found which cabinet door in the kitchen hid the built-in dishwasher and placed the cup inside. Then he climbed the stairs on tiptoes and peeked into the bedroom. Christoffer slept on his back, snoring softly.

Adam spotted his phone on the nightstand. Christoffer must have put it on charge after Adam had fallen asleep. He wouldn’t dwell on how considerate that was. He snatched up the phone and closed himself in the bathroom.

Eying the red thong with disgust, he threw it in the trash. What had he been thinking? He dragged the jeans up his naked body, pulled on his socks and slid into the T-shirt. His jacket was downstairs. He opened the door carefully, ready to bolt without looking at the sleeping man.

Except Christoffer was now sitting on the edge of the bed, naked, staring up at Adam with sleepy eyes.

Shit.

“Hi,” Christoffer murmured. His eyes slid up and down Adam’s body, noticing the clothes. His smile turned cautious.

“Hi.” Adam shifted from foot to foot. What now?

The moment dragged on until Adam’s heart was pounding. He needed to say something, quick, and get out of there before it could get any more awkward.

“I…” he began but closed his mouth again. He couldn’t decipher Christoffer’s expression. And all that skin on display was distracting.

Christoffer braced his hands on his knees and inhaled deeply, his Goliathan shoulders lifting. “You like eggs?”

“What?”

“For breakfast.”

“Yeah,” Adam blurted before he thought of the implications. He was staying for breakfast? He wanted to. Stupid! He absolutely shouldn’t! Seeing Christoffer now, those gentle gray eyes such a contrast to his brutish form, Adam ached to stay. You stupid, horny, clingy asshole. Get out of here!

He opened his mouth to say something else, to apologize and whisper goodbye, but Christoffer was faster.

“Good. Wait for me in the kitchen. I just need to…” He gestured to the bathroom door behind Adam’s back.

“Oh. Sure.”

Adam stepped aside, quivering, and the big man stood in all his naked glory. He bent down and kissed Adam’s cheek, lingering, his breath hot by Adam’s ear. Then he disappeared into the bathroom. “I’ll be just a minute,” he threw over his shoulder before the door snapped shut.

Adam stood there, stunned, and touched his tingling cheek.

🍀 Review 🍀

First, (before you get confused like me) this book is about Christoffer, Tyler’s friend from The Other Book. The author said that Adam Only was wrote after The Other Book but the time frame took place before what had happen in The Other Book.

I remember I was in dead curiosity when I met Adam and Christoffer for the first time when they successfully stole my attention in the previous book. But the funny things is….I didn’t realized that this Adam is actually the same Adam from The Other Book that had stole my curiosity until I read it and feels déjà vu with the characters names!!! When the realization finally kicked I can’t stop laughing and get more excited to devouring the book and feeds my curiosity about their story.

The first thing that hit me hard is the hot steamy sex this book offer me then the story that successfully caught my full attention. From the first time Christoffer laid eyes on the sexy dancer, Adam at Marcus and Liam’s party, then their first encounter that leads to more sexy scenes back at Christoffer's place. The growing feels, the misunderstanding, the insecurity both Adam and Christoffer have from the past, the age difference dilemma and the insta-love are wrote in such a good pace and right on it portions and made this book become fast pace read and hard to put down.

Overall, the story is interesting enough to follow and I do really enjoying the dynamic this book gave me.

Last, but not least….
Will Marcus and Liam have their own story? I’m curious to know more about them….

The conspiracy theorists of the world might have gotten something right. Maybe not the details, but they got something right. Secret experiments exist!
The details they didn’t get right were probably down to not having the imagination for what an ass can be used for.

A Ph.D. in one hand and a dream in the other, Alex strikes out multiple times getting the job of his dreams. One job interview left him feeling so down that he needed a stiff drink. Depressed, slightly drunk, yet still obsessive enough to believe in a brighter future, Alex makes the mistake of trusting the wrong person.

Enslaved, marked as a lab rat, and stuffed into a windowless room to await testing to be conducted on him. That’s the future for Alex. Until one of his captures overhears half a conversation. Maybe his ass isn’t the only useful thing on Alex. And maybe even the worst roads ventured can lead to fulfilling a dream.

THIS BOOK CONTAINS: non-con, dub-con, fisting, tentacles, sex between animal Hybrids and humans, master/slave, voyeurism, power struggle, sensory deprivation, abduction, exhibitionism, slavery, psychological mindfucks, dystopia settings, mpreg in the form of eggs going…places, gestation, and a surprise ending with a HEA feel to it.

I must admit, this is my first time I read this kind of story. I’ve been ‘avoiding’ read anything that include tentacles for so long but the warning this book gave successfully poke my curiosity and the next thing I know I fill out the arc form and sent it. And now I must face the consequences by devouring the book and prepared myself for what will this book offers me and fight my logic.

It needs lots of adjustments to understanding the story, a bit confused at the beginning, but since I determine to open wide my mind to this story, later I found that the story really captivating and intriguing enough to satisfied my curiosity, surprisingly I do really enjoying the dynamic this book gave me and less cringed myself to the whole new things about this tentacles and 'breeding' things.

At the end I must congratulate myself for the bravely act to step out from my comfort zone and trying to widen my reading experience by giving this book a try and having fun moment enjoying the story.

For someone who never tried this kind of trope before, I think this book is good enough to try, because the story is interesting enough to follow.

🌿🌿🌿

I’ve been so excited about N.R. Walker newest book and really can’t wait to devour it. But I must admit, the first few pages at the beginning didn’t catch me that well. I have a bit struggling with my mood at first, but when Monroe agreed and decided to seek for help by following the therapy to fix his alcoholic problem and seeing how broken he is and his regrets and struggling to fight his demons for the person he love and put myself on his shoes, I started to understand. The hurts, the angers, the regrets, the broken he felt inside emerged in me during the reading. And the next thing I know….I’m crying along with him for the rest of the reading…

I didn’t have personal experience with an alcoholic person, so I didn’t clicked with the raw emotions at the beginning, but this book help me to understand the situations and the struggling of those who fighting their addictions through what the author trying to portrayed through Monroe’s story. And could clearly understand what the people around the addicted person been struggling through Erik side.

The Hate You Drink had enlightened me about the struggle alcohol addict must face during their fight to be free. It’s totally heartbreaking, I cried at some part but this book also gave me the warm sensation feels through the emotional connections between the two main characters.

Again, N.R. Walker never ceased to amazed me with her writing. This one is definitely another recommended read from her.

What had caused those sadness and regrets in his poems? And Foster want to know more….

But when the play of emotions enter the situations, will they survive the growing attraction that engulfed their already fragile heart?

🍀🍀🍀

Felice did it again. Her new book had hit my already softy heart and touched me so deep.

I thought that this book will full of angst, but apparently it’s turned out not that angsty but still I got tears in my eyes almost the entire reading because the story full of moments that touched my heart and the author know very well how to squeezed your heart without mercy.

I fall in love instantly with both main characters. Their strong and raw emotional connections was there since the beginning and strongly grow to the last page.
Both Justin and Foster carried their own baggage and have self-esteem issues. Add age gap issues and professor/student situation on their plate  that could affect their future, Justin and Foster journey for happiness definitely was not an easy path to choose. And the way the author portrayed all these dilemmas was really deep and feels so real.

Great appreciation to all the poems the author wrote to complete the story that successfully brought tears to my eyes. Reading what Justin's feels through his words are another things that made this book feels so special. His sadly beautiful strong words successfully broke my heart into pieces but at the same time it also warmth my heart.

Broken Pieces is a beautiful professor/student story that will not only break your heart but also put your shredded heart back together again with the warm you feels during the reading. You’ll cry, yes! But there’s also lots of things that will put smiles on your face.

Definitely another recommended read from Felice Stevens.

Last, but not least…
With Benny and Gino story on the progress, I want Ross story as well for next!

“You saved me, not only from the crappy way I lived, but from drowning in anger and self-pity. You give me peace. A place where I know I’m safe . And you give me your heart , which I don’t deserve.”  – Justin
“You enabled me to learn about a part of me I kept hidden. It existed, but I had no desire to explore it further. Until you.” – Foster

ARC REVIEW : Volatile by Avylinn Winter

Title: Volatile
Genre(s): contemporary, "angst galore"
Series: standalone
Release Date: May 03 2019 (second edition)
Rating : 4/5 Stars

Chris Sinclair fades under a dark cloud after losing his mother to cancer. On the cusp of adulthood, he doesn’t know where he should go or how to get there. But watching life pass him by was never the plan, and when he is forced to attend a concert in an attempt to coax him out of his shell, he discovers that life might have more to offer.

Dante Heron holds the audience between his delicate bow and the tips of his fingers. He plays the violin as if every heart is his to command, but the discipline needed to perfect his skills has left him with nothing to spare. He’s a fire that burns too bright or not at all—unpredictable and demanding.

When Chris is unexpectedly offered a job to travel around Europe as Dante’s assistant, or ‘friend’, he surprises himself by accepting. Their journey barely starts before Chris realizes he’s in over his head. Every step along the way is fraught with tension, and the farther they go, the closer they veer to a breaking point.

Invisible strings are at play, stitched into Dante’s life by those who should have taught him how to love. Perhaps Chris is right to be afraid, but sometimes, what you fear the most is what you can’t afford to lose.

This story has been published previously in another version. This second edition includes material from the companion short story, Magnetic, and is extensively rewritten and expanded.

Volatile - vol·a·tile
/ˈvälədl/ - adjective : likely to change emotional state very suddenly, especially by becoming angry: liable to change rapidly and unpredictably, especially for the worse.

Loneliness. It was a strange emotion—you didn’t have to be alone to be trapped within it.

I knew loneliness, and how terrible it could be...

🍀🍀🍀

This is my first Avylinn Winter book and surprisingly it quite succeed stir my emotions.

The blurb is like the magnet that drawn my curiosity, and the minute I read it I want to know more…

The whole story was very intriguing, the plot also very engaging. I fall into deep curiosity about this Dante character as soon as I met him. Dante's insecurity and his sudden mood swings not only confusing for Chris, but also me. I really want to know ‘the why' so badly. The raw emotions and fragility the author trying to portraying through the two main characters and the ups and downs emotional connections that grow between Dante and Chris are another things that made this book feels so consuming and hard to put down.

One thing that almost frustrated me is the miscommunication between Dante and Chris. It’s broke my heart seeing that they’re both so close but feels like miles away because of this, I want to slapped their heads but at the same time I have this constant urge to hugs them.

Stand in between YA and NA genres, Volatile come with such a good story with engaging plot, raw emotions, miscommunications, heartbreaking, slow burn, good characters development and wrapped in good writing.

Felix Wood, valet, is determined to halt his employer’s downward spiral. Felix’s commitment to duty convinces Westaway, a man of more wealth than sense, that Felix is the valet he—and his large wardrobe—deserve. There’s just one problem: Felix already has a gentleman, and his presence is the only thing between Robin and self-destruction.
When a werewolf and his keeper are brutally murdered, Westaway and Felix must work together to prevent the Society of Lycanthropes and their Keepers being ripped apart. But even as he risks his life to save Robin, Felix finds himself drawn closer to Westaway, in an attraction that could destroy everything he values.

Not like the previous book from this series that gave me huge surprise with the time traveling things, this time – thanks to the title - I know what I will face when I started this book. Yep! Werewolf!!!

I’m a huge fans of shifter story especially wolf shifter, but a werewolf? Well, I must admit that I have minor experience about this werewolf things. So that’s what made me curious about what this book will offer me. So I jumped to the story and dive….

I thought I know what I will face, but apparently I’m not! Because the story full of surprising twists and mysteries that intrigued me even more….

Felix had been works as the young Mr. Grosvenor, Robin as his valet slash secret lover for years. When Mr. Grosvenor’s father will strictly want the young Mr. Grosvenor to spend his twenty first birthday at the country estate island called Morburn, there’s nothing Robin can do but to fulfill the will.

Greeting by the eccentric Lord Wastaway when they arrived at the pier, Felix could sense that there’s something about Wastaway that draw his attention. From the way he stared at him, saying “I’ll remember you” and then sniffing him on purpose when they shaking hands, Felix could sense the mysteriousness behind all the charming appearance that raise an awareness but also intrigued him at the same time.

Felix then finally know the reason behind Mr. Grosvenor's will and also revealed his new duty as the latest member of the Society of Keepers (valet slash keepers/caretakers) who took responsibility to protect their master during their three days full moon transition every month.

When the mysterious murders start happening on their full moon monthly meeting and killed the werewolves and their keepers, Felix need to do something to keep his master alive and safe, even if that means he will endangered his own life and accepted Lord Wastaway offer to  work side by side trying to solving the mystery together. But when the mysterious killer start to aim for his life, could Felix saved himself from the danger that want his life?

What so fun about following this series is the anticipation each book gave us while we’re reading it.

A bit different from the previous books in series, The Well-dressed Werewolf come with slightly different story that focused on the mysterious murders that surrounded the werewolf society. And AGAIN the author really know how to build such a mystery and tensions during the reading. You’ll forced to keep guessing and questioning who’s playing behind the serial murders that had stir a chaos in the Lycanthropy society until the very last page. Well thanks to the Sherlock side in me, of course I have my own suspect during the reading, but that didn’t dimmed the excitement I felt  following the rest of the story because the story line was totally engaging!

This book come with very intriguing murders case wrapped in mystery with almost no romance, but trust me you still can feel the glimpse of strong connection and romance between two main characters through the simple touch or a wake-up chaste kiss on forehead that succeed made the butterflies in my tummy gone wild!

There’s another very surprising things the author put in this book that still have close correlation with Leighton from the first book from this series. And trust me you’ll be in shocked like me when you reach this part and started to questioning some things….

Finally, at the end I just wanna say that The Well-dressed Werewolf is another amazing work from Gillian St. Kevern and I’m completely addicted to this series and really can’t wait for the next book, The Haunted Bedchamber. Another ghost story? Oh yasss! Bring it on!!

The CYHI provides transitional housing in the city of San Francisco, California, for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness. Fear of being raped, abused, or murdered should not be a part of anyone’s youth.

“You make me feel alive,” he said, “and I don’t know if I want to feel that.”

Dancer had learned a long time ago to shut out his emotions. He lived alone, have sex for a living with strangers, get the money and move on. He didn’t like to be touched by people and shut himself from the world. But Tucker stirred something in him…and suddenly…he start to feel alive…

I have mixed feelings about this book. It certainly wasn't what I expected. With the blurb like that, the story actually come with good premise, but there’s some part that feels a bit off while I’m reading it.

I thought the first half of the book quite succeed squeezed my emotions. The past trauma and the struggles both main characters been through at their young age were close to reality. What Dancer been through to stay survive on the street since he runaway from home and being homeless for six years really broke my heart because it’s close to the reality about what young homeless LGBTQ teens must face these days. On the other hand, Tucker struggle to took care his drug addict mother and his 6 years old sister is another realty that happen in real life. And I really appreciate the way the author trying to portraying these side of social problems and put it on his book as an awareness.
But at what had happened at nearly end of the book had failed to maintaining the growing feels that successfully grabbed me right from the start. The story suddenly falls into some cliché scenes that made the story become just another so-so reading for me. Because the ‘escaping’ part in here turned out not like what I’ve expected…

And I must accepted the fact that Escaping Camp Roosevelt definitely far from what I expected. I didn’t say the book was not good or bad, this book actually come with strong and good story with good characters development, but it just not good enough for me….

But why 4 stars if it not satisfying me at some part?

That because the realness about the homeless background the author trying to portrayed in this book that concerns me. Because there’s a lot young men like Dancer and Tucker out there that still struggling to ‘escaping’ from the real Camp Roosevelt and needs helps…

In his work, he is known to push the boundaries with brilliantly crafted stories of friendship, love, complicated relationships, and challenges all woven into a hard-earned happily-ever-after.

When Bryan is not writing, he enjoys reading a great book, traveling, lying by a body of water soaking up the sun, and watching a good movie while snuggled up with his husband on the couch with their loyal companion Nettie, the Sheepadoodle.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Bryan has made his home and life in the Central Valley of California.
